Synopsis

Moon Lee, a celebrated award-winning actress, has become a full-time mom and divorcée since retiring. Desperate to regain her sense of self, she jumps at the chance to work with her long-time collaborator, director Roger Woo, again. Only this time, he casts her as the lead in a do-your-own stunts martial arts film. The role requires extensive training and though Moon is at first uncertain, she leaves her young son in the care of Roger’s assistant and commits herself to back-breaking training. As soon as she starts to gain some confidence, Roger breaks the news to her: the only way the film can move ahead is to cast her ex-husband, Julliard, as the male lead.

Fish is a subtle observer on set who provides whatever the characters need in the film. From the small props like Yuzhou’s toys, to the essential ones like the Kali sticks of Moon. Thanks to her good understanding of the world of this film, the set is always well prepared for our actors to get the emotion easily.

Ekin as the only female technical crew member, she is never weaker than the others on set. She carries the camera around and completes all the tasks perfectly as 2nd AC. She could be very funny during the shoot while keeping the professional attitude as always. What a lovely crew to have on set!

David, the very young and talented gaffer, did his lighting works very well despite the budget-limited crew scale. He always figured out the fastest and the most efficient way to light up the scene following the request of the DP. His sweet and easy-going personality also lightens up the atmosphere during the shoot.

Best Boy | Tang Lit Yang

Lit Yang, aka Xiao Yang, is no doubt the most hardworking person on set. As the only lighting crew, he takes all the responsibilities on his shoulder to take care of the equipments and executes the orders from the gaffer. We could always see him going up and down the scene to set the light until the scene is perfectly fit the DP’s need.

The smiley makeup artist Jia Jia is indeed the source of joy during the film shoot. Besides, she is the one who makes the trend of healthy food and healthy work out in the crew! Such a delightful girl!

If you see a girl rushing to the actors after the cut and touches their costumes, then it will definitely be Amanda. Amanda assists Kit to keep the costumes clean and well dressed on the actors during the shoot. She sometimes jokes around with the wardrobe and makeup colleagues while not busy and it brings us so much fun!

Wynne as the wardrobe assistant, she throws the costumes into the washing machine and irons them before the shoot every day. Barbarian Invasion contains a lot of action scenes. Similar to the mise en abyme in the film, James Lee, who choreographed the action scenes also played the Kung-Fu master role for this movie. His direction definitely enriched Mui's acting as she discovered the ability of her body as well as her soul through Kung-Fu.
